Zurich main station city tunnel

What was planned in the 1980s as a motorway connection under Zurich's main station has been converted by the city of Zurich into a spacious, 320-metre-long bicycle tunnel and a bicycle station since September 2022. The work will continue until spring 2025 and the project costs are around CHF 39 million. Two ramps from the north and south sides of the station lead to an underground bike station for 1,200 bikes, which can be used free of charge during later operation.

On behalf of Jakob Scheifele AG, we carried out extensive manual and automatic deformation measurements on the excavation pit closures, temporary bridges, adjacent buildings and SBB and VBZ railway tracks. The measurements were carried out both in the ramp areas and inside Zurich Central Station, where, among other things, temporary railway bridges were monitored during the underground excavation work.

All measurement data was visualised in the TEDAMOS web portal, enabling intuitive and interactive analysis of the measurement results.
